Here is my story –
After working for a CRO and several medical device software companies, my dream came true: I was hired to work as a contractor at Dana-Farber in 2012 in Erica Woulf’s Research Administration and Clinical Trials Team.
I had heard great things about Dana-Farber and always wanted to work there.
But not long after starting my new job, I saw cancer patients almost on a daily basis –
in the hallways of the Yawkey Center or at the Jimmy Fund Clinic, waiting for their appointments. I saw sad faces, hopeful faces. What broke my heart is seeing children, infants, crying parents.
I was overwhelmingly touched. Never before had I been so close to the affect of cancer
to life.
After sharing my feelings with my colleagues I found out they all felt like me; I realized that by working at Dana-Farber I am part of a big team that is fighting cancer, and that my work contributes to fight cancer, even if I am not a scientist, a nurse or a doctor.
The overwhelming feeling is still there, but I feel different now. Being an active part of an amazing and brave team that goes above and beyond to help people to survive cancer is an honor and gives my life a special meaning.
I am aware of that special meaning each time I hear passengers who ride the Blue Line with me in the morning talk about cancer and that they will seek treatment at Dana-Farber because it is the best cancer clinic in the world.
That makes me proud.

Here is my story –
My name is Michael Laskowski, I am 23 years old, and a recent graduate of Colby-Sawyer College in NH. I was a 4-year member of the soccer team and a business major during my time at CSC. Since graduating, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as an Applications Analyst in the IS department. My daily work includes writing/programming reports for some of the best cancer treatment doctors in the world. Every day is a new learning experience, not just at work, but also within myself. Dana-Farber has helped me to expand my horizons of who I want to become and I am grateful to have had the privilege to work for such a wonderful company. Each and every individual at Dana-Farber has something unique to offer, and that’s something that I am proud to be part of. The camaraderie, cheerfulness, and genuine care that each of my colleagues instill on a daily basis, has helped me to grow not just as an employee, but as a person. This is a humbling and inspiring life-experience that will stay with me forever.
