Autobiography of YOU Facilities Management & Real Estate
in alphabetic order -
From:
Lory J. Zimbalatti
Facilities Operations Administrative Assistant &
Maintenance Coordinator
Before coming to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, I worked with products all my life. First, as a retail manager and buyer at the Harvard Coop and later as a Marketing Manager for NECCO (New England Confectionery Company). At the Coop, I was the music buyer and at NECCO well of course I worked with candy. Two products that almost everyone likes.
I had always wanted to work at a non-profit institution but no opportunities had come up. I was working as temp for a while between jobs and I received an assignment in the Facilities Operations Department working two days a week in 2013—a job share with another woman. I really enjoyed the job, and I was able to go full time in 2014.
From the beginning, I found Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to be an inspiring place to work. With all the new discoveries and treatments being introduced every day, I felt a part of something bigger than myself. It is the most hopeful place to work and I enjoy coming to work every day.
On the personal side - one of my passions is cats of all sizes and shapes. I just adopted a calico kitten named Zeke and he joins my older cat, Lorelei. Perhaps, in retirement, I will volunteer to work with the animals I love so much.
